Our City Council Representative, Christina Jones, is spearheading a new program called the Beyond the Drive Initiative, which links neighborhoods throughout the city to charitable organizations that are in the area in which they reside. Our assigned charity is Haven House Services, which is on Bullard Drive and can be accessed at www.havenhousenc.org.
We are all aware of the struggles families are facing in maintaining their households in the face of rising prices and a strained economy. This is one way we can all give back and help those in need of food and other household items. The idea is to try to help restock these items in time for the holiday season. The hope is that this will be the beginning of an ongoing effort to help our neighbors in need in the future.
Christina has asked MWNA board member, Randy Benefield to be the point person for this effort. Attached is a list of items they have identified as their most needed. Please bring any donations you can make to Randy’s home at 3409 Harden Rd between now and Thanksgiving. If nobody is home, please leave the items in the box by the garage doors.
Randy will be available to come to your house to collect any items you have on Monday, November 24 in the afternoon. Contact us to arrange a pickup.
Thanks for coordinating this Randy!
